CFSA course: Building strong local communities. Basic course in community building

Create strong local communities. Basic course in community building

While informal networks and virtual communities of interest have their limitations, in recent years we have come to realize that social challenges are best addressed in local communities where we meet face-to-face. This intensive course will give you knowledge and insight into communities, as well as concrete ideas on how you and your organization can facilitate and support community building.

Local communities offer great opportunities to alleviate loneliness, mental health problems or facilitate integration and generally create a meaningful everyday life for vulnerable citizens.

In this course, we work on developing and reinventing the locally rooted communities in a city neighborhood, a block, a village or a rural area.

For example, we investigate:

- How do we support community building?
- Who should we do it with?
- What types of communities are needed?
- How do we make sure that the communities are interesting for the people they are supposed to accommodate?
