Advice and sparring for voluntary organizations
Volunteer Center Odense increases the quality and the diversity of volunteering in odense by supporting, developing and inspiring voluntary social associations and initiatives and helping new associations get started.
We offer voluntary social organizations in Odense a variety of services.
"Associations often have few or no employees, which is why corporate volunteering can seem overwhelming for the association. When we are involved as a partner, the coordination responsibility and time spent by both the association and the company is reduced. At the same time, we help to qualify and quality stamp the collaboration. We strive to make it easy for associations and companies to collaborate with each other."
Volunteer Exchange
Every year in May, we gather local associations, companies and public actors for a Volunteer Exchange. Here resources can be shared - everything is allowed, except money.
VolunteerGala
Every year in September, on Volunteer Friday, we invite the city's volunteers to FrivilligGalla, a festive evening at Posten in Odense, where Odense Municipality's Volunteer Awards are presented.
Premises for associations
Volunteer Center Odense is located in Borgernes Hus together with the library, music library and Citizen Service. We provide modern and versatile premises for the associations.
Room rental requires a membership of 100 kr/year.
History of Volunteer Center Odense
1990
On November 27, the founding general meeting of Netværkskontakten will be held at an open meeting at Badstuen. The association operated from a private address, and it was here that its founders and women set up the first self-help project. The following year, the association received funding from the Ministry of Social Affairs for the first time and rented a couple of rooms on Rugårdsvej - and from there, one thing led to another towards the volunteer center we have today.
1992
The volunteer placement service is added so that the association consists of two branches - the self-help groups and the volunteer placement service - with a common board, but separate part-time managers, budgets and employees.
1996
A joint leader for the two branches, Dorte Larsen, is hired.
1997
Budget and accounting are merged for the two branches.
2006
The association is moving to new and larger premises in Jens Benzons Gade.
2008
The association changes its name to Frivilligcenter & Selvhjælp Odense at this year's general meeting.
2012
Self-help Odense is established as an independent association and is thus separated from Volunteer Center Odense.
2014
Volunteer Center Odense moves to Toldbodgade 5-7
2017
Volunteer Center Odense moves into the newly built Borgernes Hus on Østre Stationsvej 15, 2nd floor
